Don’t let the name fool you, as its two very opposite golf courses are actually located on the lands of Espoo, next to Helsinki. The crown jewel of Suur-Helsingin Golf (SHG) is Lakisto – a well-known championship course with its roots deep in Finnish amateur and professional golf. If you manage to hit all the 18 fairly tiny greens, you can call yourself a golf sensei. The other course, Luukki, is a gem of a golf course too, especially if you want to feel good about your game and shoot low numbers. But don’t shoot the messenger if you play badly. SHG is all about making their players feel at home and that shows. Being part of a golf society might be a rarer thing in the future but definitely not here. Everyone is welcome to SHG.
